Ive been wanting to go to an autox for awhile now but I dont even know how to get started. One time I went they put me in some crazy class with like open wheeled cars and stuff (because of my suspension, engine and brake modifications).

The info for noobs link doesnt work. Anyone have a working link for that?

Fixed the link in my original post..

What kind of tires were you running? You should be able to run in the street tire class..

Regardless, just come and run for fun, no need to run for points unless you plan on being dedicated to an entire season..

The re-re's over at Norcal-LSX haven't properly opened the AutoX/Road Race Forum to the general public. :jester::banghead::jester:

Here's the same info (I wrote the post) in a open forum: http://www.baautox.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=868&start=0&rid=84

Now, as for classing what is the year/make/model of vehicle, and what mods? If it's a street car they really shouldn't have thrown you with the open wheel cars, and that's probably a Mod class. OSP would have been a better fit since it's a catch-all for car running DOT approved tires that are "street registerable." You still get some pretty wild cars, and some A-hole in a Blue C5Z06 comes out from time to time and is sorta fast, but at least you're running (mostly) against "real" street cars.

However, the fact of the matter is that as a n00b the class doesn't really matter. Hell, just write "Fun Runs" on your card and have a good time.

I have a Regal GS. Upgraded supercharger, coilovers, sway bars, corvette brakes, they didnt want me in a normal class bases on my mods.

At the time I was running Eagle F1 GSD3's. Im running conti-extreme contacts now, street tries.

Id love to go out to one of these.

It's not about what they "wanted" at all. It's about rules that are in writing and there's really no room for some sort of personal agenda.

You have major motor, suspension and brake mods. If you want to run in class it's probably going to be Street Mod (SM). With some groups you could run Street Tire with the SM index. If you're not SM legal (which I think you would be) it'd be OSP after that.

I still suggest you just write "Fun Runs" for your class unless you plan to campaign the car seriously, in which case it's probably going to be far from competitive. Just go out there and have fun.

When is the next time some of you guys are going? Id like too meetup with other GM guys and do something like this.

Im not the best driver but im too much of a pussy to race around the streets like a roadcorse. Hopefully I can learn a lot from something like this. Would be cool to have a few experienced guys give me pointers too so im not out there by myself driving like a dumbass all day.

well you just missed one... there was one in fairfield which was close to the last one of the year if i'm not mistaken... you do learn alot especially if you have someone in the car with you who's willing to help you and done it before... it's relatively a cheap way to improve your driving skills

i will be out there as well as Big Brian from Norcal LSX. Just look for the silver or white camaro. Feel free to come up and ask for a ride or any help!

I'm also a social director for Norcal LSX. Apparently, we never noticed that the autox and rr forum was set to private. We should have that opened up asap.

Actually you just have to register to see the forum, just like it was when TJ was president of the re-re's. I went ahead and changed it so it is now visible to anyone, but you have to register if you want to post.
