ok, so my motor is on the way out, and im looking to buy a used and abused shortblock and rebuild it. i found a couple candidates on craigslist, but theyre of course all abused, knocking, crying etc.

so in short ive never rebuild anything before and just wanna know the route to go!!

sorry if this is too broad but any tips, suggestions and money donations is appreciated (pm me for my paypal addy)

thanks:thumbsup:

oh and i wanna build something that can take a 100 shot down the road but no FI etc. probably be staying with the 224 cam as well.

so i decided i dont have the money to build a stoker etc forged bottom end blah blah thanks to college. how wise is it to buy a used shortblock, replace the heads/gaskets/cam/oilpump and timing chain and just drop it in?

i understand the cons of not knowing exactly what its been through etc but can i just visually inspect the bearings by removing the main caps? etc

input.

probably the most affordable way to do it if the motor you get is good. Take the rod caps off and look at the bearings and crank. If they look good bolt it back up with katech rod bolts. The stock ones will be garbage after they are removed. Clean everything as best you can and put it together with new gasket,s oil pump ect....
