You kinda have to compare vehicle for vehicle, they bring the 8 cylinders out to suprise the 6 cyl camaro. Only Austrailia had the v8 (which has slight cosmetic differences) at the unveiling.

http://camaro5.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7452&stc=1&d=1220726083

Here's a blacked out v8 camaro. The only difference is that the person blacked the rims and turn signals out. Bigger lower air dam, slight bulge to show the chin spoiler part of the front bumper, the non-functioning mail slot above the grill.

Do you still not like the Camaro? If not, then it's fine, I just wanted you to compare apples to apples (v8 to v8)

Either way,

Challenger > Mustang in Straight line
Mustang > Challenger in Turns
Camaro ?? both. GM claims class leading performance, so we'll have to wait and see.

BTW, the new 2010 mustang looks like Ford tried to mate a 5th gen camaro and a newest gen stang.

blacking out a vehicle(of any kind) makes it look 10x worse then it did before. So that picture above looks a hell of alot worse(in my opinion) then the one in the video.

The problem i have with the camaro is the grill and those awful corvette like taillights. I'd love to ask the chief designer,

"was somehing like this too hard to replicate?"
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3060/2625624201_b8b2b96463.jpg?v=1214869274

I've never really liked the original camaros, but if your gonna make a retro version, cant you do it accurately? Their design is about as sad as when dodge tried to play off the new charger as retro because of the roof slope.

I have a hard time believing that the camaro is gonna be a great handling car. It looks bulky like the challenger. Although all 3 probably handle as bad as the GT500. lol

Well sorry I posted the pic then. Most people like the look of a blacked out "stealth" car. To each his own. And for the retro comment...all I have to say is...

IT'S NOT RETRO! GM has been trying to pound this point across into dense people's heads. THIS IS NOT A REMAKE OF A 1969 CAMARO.

The point was to create a modern camaro with styling cues from the previous ones. This isn't another Challenger (designed with tracing paper).

As bulky as it seems, the camaro is actually a lot smaller than the challenger.

Some people like the design, and others don't. Personally the vette-esque taillights don't look bad to me, and I'd much rather have a 3600lb Camaro (probably fully loaded SS for 36k out the door) than a 4200 pound challenger for 50k.

Also, the new camaro has 4 wheel irs as opposed to a live axle. plus, the GT500 is what? 42,500 sticker? Add dealer markup and you're paying 70k. Get the SS and slap a cam, long tube and exhaust and push 480 hp+ in a fully loaded SS for around 40 ish?

What color do you want? I can find a photoshop in that color if black isn't your thing.

So styling wise, the new camaro is the equivilent to a bullfrog drink?? http://www.drinkswap.com/drinks/detail.asp?recipe_id=10284

It sounds to me like maybe they should have picked a design and stuck with it. Not fiddle with different. There's a reason why a 70' grill was not put on a 68' body...and IMO they didnt figure that out.

I feel your pricing is a bit skewed, while i dont like the camaro, many people do and the mark up will be insane. Remember when the GT500 hit the floor? there were cars with 60k in mark up. I could see the camaro easily being like this.

I think 3600lb is a very light estimate. I remember saying the new mustang was gonna be heavy when it first came out and everyone disputed my comment until they it the floor and they were heavy pigs that almost defeated the performance gain of 40 extra hp. But i suppose we'll see once it hits the showroom.

Its not a color issue, i just think that front end is awful.

Because i don't like most GM products, VW products or the ford GT500(one car) i somehow don't like a ton of other vehicles? :smash:

I'd think you guys being chevy owners could understand my dislike of VW products. Imagine having your chevy, it breaks down, but everything is overcomplicated and a bitch to work on?? My brother had to take his Passat to the dealer(and get charged out the ass) to have a headlight changed, because we couldnt get any tools into the area to pop out the light. :shake:

The funny thing is that how your "GM" list lists nothing i would wanna own.

If you wanna know what is "my brand" that'd be BMW. I'm generally not brand specific, but if i have to choose one, that'd be it. My buddy has had two of their 80s 5 series(not that nice looking), but one had 400k on the original head and block. It didnt leak and he use to autoX it before he wrecked it. He current one is another 80s 5 series, 200k on the clock and the original owner use to beat on it out at tracks. It too, does not leak.

I may even look into one of those E30s(google it) as my next weekend car.

I know what E30's are. I personally like the E36's myself. I just listed those because you said you prefer the euro built cars. I was just showing exactly how many euro cars are euro and not american owned and operated. The internet doesn't convey emotions well and it seemed as though you were saying you don't like anything American and like the EU cars better.

Being financed by one and being designed and built buy another doesnt really count.

The jag-ford relationship is not like we're discussing chevy-pontiac. where they have cars that are nearly cloned from one another. Although it wouldnt be terrible if ford did do that. I think i could live with an Aston martin DB9 with a ford badge. for half the price.

E36s are nice, but the non-M3s are pretty weak. The thing about the E30, is that you can build a faster more reliable 325i for about the price of an E30 M3. You cant even come close to that with the E36 since the high price on the E30 M3 is because of the sexy body lines.

Plus, there is just something about a turbo sleeper:

Not a bad video. Basically shows what I'm doing to my Camaro for the GT500's and possibly some corvettes...

Not sure and haven't done research, but I'm interested in pursuing the STS remote mount systems.

I looked into the STS system myself, but it seems like it would be cheaper to build a custom one if you had the know-how.

I may even try to do the same if i get an E30 since Ca emissions are such a PITA. Or just do nitrous on the little car. Or look into a 335i conversion(535i engine in a 325i)

May look bulky but lap times are showing the new SS is doing better then M60 M5's and M46 M3's.
